Laura Rolls
Board Member
Laura Rolls is a Trade Waste Officer at Napier City Council, where she works alongside local dischargers to support compliance, promote cleaner production, and manage all aspects of their trade waste effectively. She also leads strategic projects within the trade waste space. Her work includes presenting recommendations at Council level and helping shape how trade waste is managed in Napier and beyond.
Before joining Council, Laura spent nine years in the agricultural industry, gaining extensive experience across technical, operational, and customer-facing roles.
She holds a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Biology and Earth Science from the University of Waikato.
Laura brings her frontline experience as a Trade Waste Officer to the NZTIWF Board, offering valuable insight into both the challenges and opportunities facing industry nationwide. She is particularly passionate about initiatives that promote innovation, environmental resilience, and practical solutions for industry and councils alike.
Away from the bylaw and sampling schedules, Laura is happiest outdoors, in her garden, or chasing after her two young children. She believes trade waste officers are a special breed — equal parts scientist, detective, and negotiator — and is excited to bring that mix of skills to the NZTIWF Board.
